Abstract
766,615. Regenerative heat exchangers, BUREAU VAN TONGEREN, N. V. Jan. 10, 1955 [Jan. 8, 1954], No. 651/55. Class 64(1) (In a rotary regenerative air heater comprising a cylindrical drum divided by radially extending partitions into sector shaped compartments each containing heat transfer material in the form of metal plates extending in a direction parallel with the axis of the drum, the plates are joined together in pairs, one plate 7 of the pair having relatively large indulations formed therein to provide passages for heating gas and air to be heated and the second plate 8 being either flat (as shown) or less markedly indulated than the first plate, the axes of the undulations of the second plate, when this is undulated, being out of parallel with those of the first plate and the two plates being secured together, as by spot welding or riveting at the points 10, to prevent relative movement in their own planes and consequent deformation due to the combined weight of the plate assembly when the rotor is rotating. Twisted strips 9 may be disposed in the fluid passages as shown.
