Abstract

765,970. Valve amplifying circuits. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. Jan. 28, 1955 [Jan. 29, 1954], No. 2741/54. Class 40(6) A neutralized amplifier comprises a valve which is driven between grid and ground in one phase, from a transformer winding L3, and between cathode and ground in opposite phase, from a further winding L2. The output is taken from a tuned anode circuit, the input transformer also being tuned. It is shown in the Specification that for neutralization the ratio of grid drive to cathode drive must equal the ratio of anode/cathode capacity to anode/ grid capacity. Balance may be adjusted by means of a variable capacitor in parallel with one or the other of the valve capacities referred to: by addition of such capacity exact neutralization may be obtained for a ratio of inputs which gives optimum matching between the valve and the input circuit.
