Abstract

555,601. Valve amplifying circuits. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. (General Electric Co.). Sept. 2, 1942, No. 12365. Addition to 534,531. [Class 40 (v)] In a high or intermediate frequency amplifier arranged to effect neutralization of the retroactive currents due to the anode-grid capacity, as described in the parent Specification, the resistance values of the circuits are taken into consideration. The arrangement consists of an inductive output circuit in series with a reactive circuit in the cathode lead and with the inductive branch of the input circuit connected to earth and the capacitive branch to the cathode or vice versa depending on the kind of reactance in the cathode lead. The impedance in the cathode lead X 2 , R, is so related to the load impedance X 1 , R, and the input circuit branch having the same sign as X 2 , impedance X 4 , R 4 and to the anode-grid reactance X, that R 2 = R 4 XŒR 1 X 4 /X 3 and X, = X 4 X 1 Œ R 1 R 4 /X 3 . The Figure shows an arrangement using a capacitive impedance 29 in the cathode lead and the capacitive branch of the input circuit constituted by the tuned circuit 18, 20 and the inductive branch by the choke 43 so that damping of the tuned circuit 18, 20 need not be made unnecessarily high to satisfy the conditions. The Specification gives vector diagrams and equivalent alternating current circuits with a mathematical analysis of the circuit shown and also similar data for the circuits described with reference to Figs. 1 and 2 of the parent Specification.
