Class 64(1) A gas-fired water heater comprising a water-tube 8 coiled around a vertical flue 6 is mounted on a rear - supporting plate 1 by the attachment of inlet and outlet ends 9, 11 of the water-tube 8 to angle brackets 13 on the supporting plate 1. The horizontal limbs of the brackets 13 have slots which are open at the front to receive flat-sided portions of screw-threaded sleeves 18 on the tube ends 9, 11. Nuts 19 screwed on to the sleeves 18 engage in recesses 16 around the slots and clamp the pipes to the brackets 13. Lugs 20 on upper brackets 2 engage between bends 10, 10<SP>1</SP> of the water-heating tube to prevent the heater from tilting. A waste-gas hood 4 rests in channels formed by bending the lower edges of the brackets 2 inwardly.
