Abstract
763,549. Anodizing aluminium and alloys thereof. UNITED AIRCRAFT CORPORATION. Nov. 2, 1954 [Nov. 23, 1953], No. 31646/54. Class 41. A protective oxide coating is produced on the surface of a predominantly aluminium article by first cold-working the surface as by rolling or shot-blasting and then anodizing it in an aqueous solution of sulphuric acid at a temperature not above 50 F. Preferably the acid concentration in the bath is not above 15 per cent by volume, the temperature is in the range 25 to 32 F., the current density is not above 25 amps./sq. ft. and the bath is continuously agitated.
