Abstract

442,902. Electrolysis. SIEMENS & HALSKE AKT.-GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. Sept. 27, 1934, No. 27744. Addition to 407,830. [Class 41] [See also Group XX] In the process of the parent Specification, the porous layer is formed on the surface of aluminium or aluminium alloy by anodic oxidation in chromic acid solution at a high temperature of more than 40‹ C., for example 65‹ C., and at a low constant bath voltage of below 25 volts, for example 20 volts. A white layer is produced with 20 per cent chromic acid solution, and a layer with a metallic lustre with 3 per cent chromic acid solution. The time of treatment may be 30 minutes.
