Class 38(3) [Also in Group XXIV] In a safety device for stopping the power drive to machinery in the event of obstruction, a power-transmitting link or rack A is formed of two relatively slidable parts 4, 5 which are held together by a spring and normally act as a single unit, but if abnormal resistance is encountered the spring allows the parts 4, 5 to move apart and consequently a switch 7 carried by the part 5 is actuated by a plate 9 on the part 4 to stop the driving electric motor. As shown the rack A is actuated by a cam-driven sector 1 and drives a machine shaft 3.
