[Classes 38 (iii) and 38 (v)] Relates to a motor controller for effecting repeated reversals of an electric motor which is driven in one direction or the other for a predetermined number of revolutions. The motor M drives a washer cylinder 2 the shaft 9 of which is coupled by a shaft 12 to a gear wheel 14 gearing with a wheel 45 mounted on a bearing shaft 33. The wheel engages frictionally a wheel 23 rotatably mounted on the shaft 12 and gearing with a wheel 46 also mounted on the shaft 33. The wheels 45, 46, respectively, carry rings 47, 48, each having a peripheral notch engaged at certain relative positions of the wheels by respective spring pressed plungers 22, 30 carried respectively in the wheels 14, 23. The wheel 45 has a number of teeth less by one than the number of teeth on the wheel 14. Thus for each revolution of the shaft 9, the wheel 14 gains or loses on the wheel 45 by one tooth and after a predetermined number of revolutions of the shaft the plunger 22, or 30, engages its respective notch and moves into the path or a pivoted member 44 to rock this member one way or the other. This member engages an arm 53 to move it over the dead centre of a spring system 80 and thereby operates a switch arm 57. The first and final part of the movement of the switch arm is rapid but a dashpot 82 effects a timed intermediate movement of the arm. The switch mechanism effects reversal of the motor.
