Abstract

A multi head flat bed machine, Figs. 1(a), 1(b), 1(c), (not shown), having fashioning screws 5 and nut housings H in a central control division, has electro hydraulic driving and control mechanism for operating the cam boxes. The nut housings are associated with rollers 7,8 mounted or arms which are keyed to but slidably movable along shafts 9,10 respectively when the nut housings are adjusted. The cam boxes C are reciprocated by a bar B coupled to driven means D actuated by an hydraulic motor. The driven means D carries cam plates 5 which at each end of the traverse engage either one or the other rollers 7,8. In doing so the roller arm is first pivoted sufficiently to partially rotate the corresponding shaft 9,10 and thereby effect a link 13 to actuate a switch 14 controlling a solenoid which operates a braking valve influencing the hydraulic motor 6 to cause it to slow down the movement of the driven means D and thereby the cam boxes. Further movement of the driven means then causes the cam plates 5 to further rotate the shaft 9,10 and thereby actuate a switch 19 through linkwork 24...27, or 241...271 and 28. This switch 19 controls a solenoid which operates a slide valve which reverses the motor causing the driven means and cam boxes to be driven in the opposite direction. Further switches and valves are provided to enable the driven means to be stopped at the end of its traverse and to enable it to be driven slowly.
