Where the machine a is driven from a power shaft j, Fig. 6, through a belt k, the operation of a switch q when the belt breaks, energizes an electromagnet r from a generator p driven from the shaft j, to release a latch s which allows a spring or weight o to operate a fork l which shifts the belt k on to a loose pulley n. Alternatively, a clutch through which the machine a is driven may be released.
