[Class 122(iv)] [Also in Group XXXVII] The driving motor 12 of a machine such as a domestic appliance is switched off on over-load, in response to a decrease in the speed of a pulley 18, driven through a belt 16 by the motor pulley 17. In Figs. 1 and 2, the switch 24 comprises a spring- returned lever 32 having a lug 34 which engages the side of an operating lever 30, the forked end 31 of which moves a contact-making lever 28. The lever 30 pivoted at 29 is held depressed until the pulley 18 reaches its normal speed, and a sleeve 22 is moved inwardly by governor weights 20, so as to allow a spring-urged arm 25 to move about its pivot 26 and latch the lever 32 by means of a tongue 38. Upon a decrease in speed, the sleeve 22 is moved outwardly by its spring 23, and rotates the arm 25 until the tongue 38 releases the lever 32, which is returned by its spring 33 and thereby opens the switch. In Fig. 7, the switch 24 is opened when a spring- loaded plunger 41 is unlatched by a spring- returned lever 44, moved by the driving- belt 16 when it commences to slip off the unflanged side of the motor pulley 17.
