Abstract

121,031. Webb, T. H., and Rhodes, C. J. Feb. 2. 1918. Shearing. - A. toggle-operated shearing - press is constructed with an upper sliding blade b which is normally raised by rods c and pivoted counterweights d, the depression of the blades being effected by means of toggle-levers e, f actuated by links h attached to nuts i on a shaft j formed with right and left hand threads. The shaft i is preferably operated by a hand-lever I which acts through a one-way clutch, and a hand-wheel m restores the cutter to normal position. The shaft j may be operated by the handwheel m alone, or by fast and loose pulleys and suitable power.
