Abstract

255,537. Blake, F. J. April 24, 1925. Screw propellers.- A guard device for screw propellers and shafts comprises serrated cutters formed on ribs on segments which are bolted and welded on the bearing boss of the stern bracket. A ring of segments c, Figs. 1 and 3, is bolted or welded to the boss b and projecting ribs extend up to the boss of the propeller a. Each segment is stepped at d and has ribs k, e which are serrated at l, f, and a lower set of serrations j is formed on the extension rib e<1>. The rib may be further extended at g to come close to the boss and curved down toward the shaft.
