758,116. Floors. CONCRETE, Ltd., and MATHEWS, C. B. Feb. 2, 1955 [Feb. 2, 1954], No. 3062/54. Class 20(4). A floor is formed of a number of precast, prestressed, concrete planks 12 which are laid side-by-side each plank having a groove 13 at one edge and a tongue 14 at the other to form tongue and groove joints with adjacent planks, ties 15 being placed between adjacent planks to key them to a screed of concrete which is cast in situ on top of the planks to just cover the projecting parts of the ties. One edge, or the other, of adjacent planks is rebated to form shallow slots to receive the ties 13 which are each provided with a hole 15a for the reception of a rod 20 to prevent the tie from slipping while the planks are being aligned. The rods 20 can be removed as work progresses. Some of the ties may have downward extensions 18a to support a suspended ceiling.
