766,252. Floors. CONCRETE, Ltd., and WOOD, K. M. Dec. 16, 1953 [Sept. 16, 1952], No. 23243/52. Class 20(4) A floor comprises' a plurality of spaced parallel precast concrete beams 12, each beam having a lengthwise cavity opening to the uppermost face, the width of the opening being less than the maximum width of the cavity, and concrete slabs 16' bridging adjacent beams with the edges of each slab supported by adjacent beams 12 but not overlying the openings to the beams. Each slab 16 has its edges chamfered at 17 on its upper surface and concrete ties are formed by filling the spaces 18 with in situ concrete. As shown the beams are prestressed and have oval cavities, the bottom of each cavity being formed with narrowly spaced lateral grooves.
