A floor comprises rows of slightly spacedapart rectangular slabs 1 disposed between and supported on the flanges of inverted T-section parallel joists 6 the slabs having partly recessed or stepped back side faces which in the floor define an intersecting grid-work of grooves 10 into which bonding agent such as concrete is poured. The bonding agent passes into the clearances between adjacent slabs in each row and into clearances 7 between the rows of slabs and the webs 6a of the joists. Reinforcing bars 12 may be provided in the grooves running transversely to the joists. Vibration deadening material 8 is interposed between the slabs 1 and the horizontal flanges 6b of the joists.
