Bricks, special shapes of; flooring and ceiling blocks.-Bricks for forming floor beams or for use as filler blocks for floors are hollow as in Figs. 4 and 8, and are provided with grooves on the side faces. The block shown in Fig. 4 has ribs 6, small recesses 8 and dovetail grooves 5, which may be replaced by holes having walls diverging towards the interior of the block. A beam is formed by casting concrete 3 between two rows of blocks, as in Fig. 11, or by casting concrete in grooves formed in the blocks themselves as shown in Fig. 8.
