Abstract
757,560. Bolting. PORTABLE INDUSTRIES, Inc. May 13, T964 [Dec. 9, 1953], No. 14024/54. Class 89 (1). A stud to be. fired into a wall &c. 32, Fig. 4, e.g. a steel girder, comprises a shank 20 having a point 21 and a portion 23 which may be screwthreaded, there being a shoulder 26 on the shank. The shoulder is formed by the front face of a collar 24 and is undercut as at 25 to peen the wall-material against the shank, which may be roughened or recessed as at 27. The shoulder also limits penetrating of the stud into the wall. The rear face of collar 24 forms an abutment for members 30, 31 attached to the stud. In another arrangement, the periphery 18, Fig. 2, of collar 17 is serrated to provide impaling points 19. The undercut surface also may be serrated, and in another arrangement, the rear.,part of th stud is of larger diameter than the front part, the undercut shoulder being formed at the juncture of the two diameters. Instead of being externally threaded, the rear end of the stud may have an axial internally-threaded bore.
