Abstract

1,008,782. Anchor-bolts; screw-sockets. H. LIEBIG. July 16, 1962 [July 15, 1961], No. 27309/62. Heading F2H. An expansible shell 1 (e.g. of hardened steel) of an anchor-bolt is divided by longitudinal slits 2 into segments joined together at one end by weak webs 3 so that a wedge-nut 5 on the bolt shank 4 is first drawn into the leading end of the shell 1 (on tightening the bolt) until the webs break, because of pressure from a spreader 6 at the trailing end. The spreader 6 is then drawn into the shell also so that the latter expands cylindrically. The shank 4 may be a threaded stud with a wedge-nut replacing the bolt-head 8. There may be a distance-sleeve between the spreader 6 and a washer 7 so that spreading of the shell takes place well inside the bore, in a wall receiving the bolt, away from a surface coating on the wall. The leading end of the shell 1 may be knurled where indicated by the arrow.
