Abstract

1,020,368. Anchor-bolts; screw-sockets. L. BOLIVIA. Jan. 18, 1963 [Jan. 24, 1962], No. 2412/63. Heading F2H. An anchor for a bolt 13 has a multipart shell, e.g. in four identical parts 1 of cast iron or antimonial lead held together by an annular spring 2, expanded, when the bolt 13 and its nut (not shown) are tightened, by the wedging action of an expander 7, with a tapered surface 8 fitting in a corresponding recess in the shell. Triangular-sectioned projections 9 on the surface 8 locate in corresponding gaps formed by notches at the edges of the shell parts 1. The bolt-head 12 or the nut is held against rotation in a pocket 10 in the expander 7 (which may be in two halves), the pocket being polygonal in section and tapered or stepped in form to accommodate different sizes of bolthead or nut. A supplementary expander cone may be used at the trailing end of the anchor, where there is a short tapered ridge 4, Fig. 4, on each shell part 1. At the leading end there are annular ridges 5.
