698,307. Expansion bolts. COWEY, L. E. Jan. 4, 1952 [Jan. 4, 1951; Feb. 22, 1951 ], No. 369/52. Class 89 (i) An expansion bolt for securing fittings, &c. 2 to walls &c. has an expansion sleeve waisted at 8, tapered acutely at 11 and abruptly at 12, and slit from end to end on one side and as far as a hole 15 on the other. The ends of the slits at the acutely tapered end are widened out at 14. The bolt carries a sleeve 5 abruptly tapered at 13 and a nut acutely tapered at 10. The nut may be tapered from both faces. The hole 15 is countersunk from the outside to provide grip for a hooked extractor tool.
