Abstract
622,288. Wall plugs. PHILPLUG PRODUCTS, Ltd., and TAYLOR, C. H. July 25, 1946, No. 22207. [Class 89 (i)] A plug for use in fixing articles to thin structural members such as wall or ceiling boards comprises a sleeve 7, Fig. 1, preferably of rubber of medium hardness ,that is a slack fit in the hole except at the part 11, and has a head 9 to prevent complete passage through the hole and a nut 8 secured by bonding to the inner end of the sleeve. In a modification the nut and sleeve are connected by interengaging projections and recesses. The nut may be of material that will permit the impression of a thread by the fixing screw. In fixing a cable clip 3, Fig. 4, to a wall continued tightening of the screw 5 causes the sleeve 7 to expand at 10 and prevent withdrawal. According to the Provisional Specification the nut may be replaced by a brass &c. washer split radially and twisted for engagement by a wood screw, or such a washer may be provided in addition to a nut.
