Abstract

634,116. Wall &c. plugs. UNITED-CARR FASTENER CORPORATION. March 25, 1947, No. 8120. Convention date, April 2, 1946. [Class 89 (i)] Plugs for use in wood, thermoplastic material, &c. to afford a holding means for a bolt of the type comprising a threaded sleeve 5, Fig. 2, with an enlarged end 16 carrying teeth 18 that become embedded in the material to prevent rotation of the sleeve have a further sleeve 6 with a flanged end 20 that is driven over the sleeve 5 and against the enlarged end 16 that serves as an anvil causing the leading end of the sleeve 6 to flare outwards at 22 and engage with holding effect in the wall of the hole in the plastic &c. material. In a modification the sleeve is formed of softer material so that it collapses to give engagement at 28, Fig. 8, in addition to the engagement at 22.
