Abstract
757,198. Metal powders. BADISCHE ANLIN- & SODA-FABRIK AKT.-GES. Dec. 22, 1954 [Jan. 5, 1954], No. 37003/54. Classes 72 and 82(1). Nickel, iron, iron-nickel and other powders are obtained in a uniform particle size by thermal decomposition of the carbonyl in the free space of an externally heated container, the surfaces not supplying heat for the decomposition being kept at a temperature at or slightly above the condensation temperature of the metal carbonyl but below the temperature at which a decomposition of the metal carbonyl takes place on said surfaces. A container A is supplied with the carbonyl vapour through a pipe D, into a zone cooled by a jacket E and then to the heated portion of the container, the heat being supplied by gases in a jacket B. The lower part of the container is also cooled by a jacket supplied at F2. Carbon monoxide is removed at L and passes through a filter M. Metal powder is removed at K and N.
