Abstract

Melamine is separated from the molten melamine and associated waste gases emerging from the synthesis reactor in which melamine is produced by pyrolysis of urea, by contacting same with a quantity of cool gas sufficient to provide the resulting mixture with a temperature of from 60 DEG to 130 DEG C., whereby the molten melamine is caused to solidify and separate from the gases. The cooling gas may be ammonia, an inert gas or cooled recycled gases separated from the melamine. Specification 641,643 is referred to.
