Abstract

The electromagnetic properties of carbonyl iron powder are improved by heating pulverulent iron, obtained by the thermal decomposition of Fe(CO)5, at a temperature of 450-500 DEG C., preferably 500 DEG C., in NH3 gas for 4-10 hours, cooling with dry nitrogen gas and following with a ball-milling treatment. U.S.A. Specification 1,759,659 is referred to.
