A manure distributer comprises a frame 10 detachably mountable on a tractor between the front and rear wheels and fitted with a hopper 33 which feeds manure into a trough 15 carried by the frame, the material being ejected from the trough through an outlet 25 by a rotary agitator 20, 24 driven from the rear wheel of the tractor. The frame 10 has hooks 11 and stays 13 which engage a frame member 12 of the tractor to support the device cantilever-fashion. The trough 15 is slidably withdrawable from the frame 10 but is normally secured by pegs 17. Springs 35 hook over studs 34 to hold the hopper on to the frame. The agitator comprises a blade 24 on the spindle 20 co-operating with fixed vanes 22. The drive to the spindle 20 includes a pulley 26 loose on the spindle and a clutch disc 28 keyed to it, the position of the disc being controlled by a pivoted pendulum 31 so that when the tractor tilts over in working a furrow the pendulum swings to engage the disc and pulley, thus completing the drive. Pairs of units may be mounted one on each side of a tractor, the drive being taken to each in turn as the tractor tilts; the tractor may be fitted with one-way ploughs operating at the same time. A worm-feed may replace the blade 24.
