Abstract

686,264. Seed sowers. BROOME, J. H. Aug. 17, 1951 [July 3, 1950]. No. 16509/50. Class 6 (i). A machine for distributing seeds and powdered material comprises a hopper 1 pivotally mounted for oscillation in the direction of travel of the machine by rotary cams 5 and provided with a discharge outlet 13 and is characterised by the provision of an agitating member 14 pivotally mounted on arms 16 with its upper edge projecting into the hopper. The member 14 is pivotally connected to the hopper by links 29 slidable in sockets 30 in the hopper which cause the member 14 to be oscillated in synchronism with the hopper so that the material is agitated and discharged alternately in front of and behind the member. The position of the arms 16 is adjusted by a hand-lever to adjust the position of the member 14 with respect to the opening of the hopper. The machine may be supported behind a trailer containing a bulk supply of material.
