Abstract
754,734. Ventilators. CRITTALL & CO., Ltd., R., and RHODES, F. Dec. 14, 1954 [Feb. 25, 1954; Sept. 7, 1954], Nos. 5565/54 and 25906/54. Class 137. An air diffuser comprises a fixed cylinder 1 which has an upper flange 2 for attachment to an air supply conduit and a lower flange 6 for supporting, by means of bolts 7 and distance pieces 8, annular plates 4, 5, and a disc 3 ; cylinders 9, 10, and 11 fitted respectively within the cylinder 1 and the central apertures of annular plates 4, 5 being adjustable axially to control the output of air between the cylinder 1 and the plate 4, the plates 4 and 5, and the plate 5 and the disc 3. If desired openings such as 34 may be formed in the disc 3 and in one or both of the plates 4, 5. Means for moving the cylinders 9, 10, 11 comprises a knob 12 which is rotatably mounted in the disc 3 and has a spindle 13 fitted with a transverse pin 15 for engagement with slots 16 in a tube 14 which is movable axially along the spindle 13. A transverse rod 17 fixed to the tube 14 passes through apertures 19, 20, 21 formed respectively in the cylinders 11, 10, and 9 and engages in inclined slots 18 in the fixed cylinder 1 for producing the axial movement of the cylinders when the knob 12 is turned. In a modification the flange 6 the annular plates 4, 5 and the disc 3, are fitted with truncated conical skirts which are interconnected by distance pieces, the cylinders being moved, in this case, by a rotatable rod which has screw engagement at one end with a bar connected across the upper ends of the cylinders and projects through the disc 3 at its other end to receive an operating knob.
