Abstract

Class 137 An air diffuser having two apertures or sets of apertures, such as 8, 9 and 13, 14, 15, through which air is directed alternatively at different angles to the axis of the diffuser and means for simultaneously opening one aperture or set and closing the other aperture, or set, and viceversa, comprises a cylinder 1 forming the outlet of an air-supply conduit, conical skirts 3, 4, 7 coaxial with the cylinder and skirts 10, 11 with a relatively wide and a relatively narrow apical angle, respectively, all spaced apart to leave apertures 8, 9, 13, 14 and 15. The skirts are spaced apart by supports 5, 6 and 12. The apertures are opened and closed by cylinders 16 (carried by a bar 28 in a packing 20), 17-prevented from rotation by a key in a key slot arrangement, and conical frusta 18, 19, all three carried by a bar 29, bosses 26, 27 engaging on spindles 23, 24 (coupled by a sleeve 25), the latter being mounted in a bearing 30 on the bars 12 and rotated by a knob 31, axial movement being prevented. All the apertures or sets thereof can be partially opened simultaneously. Specification 754,734 is referred to.
