Abstract

881,094. Electron-optical apparatus. TESLA, NARODNI PODNIK. June 17, 1959 [June 19, 1958], No. 20810/59. Class 39(1) The electron beam e.g. in an electron microscope is altered in cross-section by means of a diaphragm having a lenticular opening and being rotatable about an axis perpendicular to the axis of the beam. The lenticular opening is formed by the partial coincidence of a bore 13, Fig. 5, in a rod 10 with two apertures 15 in a sleeve 14 fitting over the rod, the effect of rotation of the rod, together with the sleeve, relative to the beam being shown in Figs. 3 and 4. The rod 10 is mounted in sealing-rings in the side wall 21 of the apparatus and may be rotated, moved longitudinally or pivoted about the ring 16 by externally located control knobs 24, 25.
