Abstract

814,892. Electron beam deflecting apparatus. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. May 1, 1956 [May 3, 1955], No. 12732/55. Class 39(1). A beam deflecting device comprises a plate 13 provided with an aperture for the tube neck 1, the plate either forming or carrying a magnet 16 setting up a beam deflecting flux across the aperture and the plate is supported for adjustment relatively to the neck on three parallel arms 7 each having resilient sleeves 9 preferably grooved as at 11 to engage the plate, so that the plate 13 may be rotatably adjusted and held in adjusted position by means of friction between its inner edge and the sleeves 9. The arms 7 are supported by an annulus 3 having a central aperture 4 for the tube, and the annulus 3 is secured to the deflecting coil casing 2 by screws 5. As shown a second plate 14 carrying a magnet 17 is similarly mounted and the two magnets 16, 17 may be relatively adjusted for beam-centreing purposes. In another embodiment the two magnets are supported on a single rubber member by means of grooves engaging the periphery of the magnet forming or carrying plates.
