Abstract
731,451. Cathode-ray tubes. COVILL, D. H. Oct. 13, 1953 [Oct. 23, 1952], No. 26589/52. Class 39 (1). For the correction of the centring of the electron beam in a cathode-ray, a ceramic permanent magnet annulus 12 forming part of the focusing system is surrounded by a magnetic, but not permanently magnetized, annulus 13 which can be both rotated axially and tilted diametrically relative to the annulus 12. The magnet 12 is glued to a non-magnetic plate 11 and is fitted to a non-magnetic sleeve 10 which is slidable on the neck of the cathode-ray tube. The annulus 13 is held by flexible members 15 diametrically fixed to a plate 16 which is rotatable within spring clips 17 fixed to the plate 11. The magnet is tiltable by the screw 20 and spring 22 which are secured to the plate 16. A plate 24 which is secured to a sleeve 25 carries a further permanent magnet 23 which with the aid of the magnet 12 concentrates the electron beam. Axial adjustment of the magnet 23 is produced when it is rotated, by the screws 26 in the sleeve 25 and spiral slots 27 in the sleeve 10.
