Abstract
464,637. Magnets. FERNSEH AKT.- GES. Oct. 21, 1935, Nos. 28985 and 28986. Convention dates, Oct. 19, 1934 and Feb. 28, 1935. [Class 35] [Also in Group XL] Cathode rays are deflected by two semicircular magnetic portions 1, 3 coaxial with the cathode-ray tube 2, intersecting a common plane normal tc the axis of the tube and mutually adjustable through 360‹. One or both of the portions 1, 3 are permanently magnetized to form poles at the ends, and the internal radius of one is approximately equal to the external radius of the other. One at least of the portions may be a steel band sprung around the tube. The portions 1, 2 are held in position by end rings on an insulating tube which is pushed over the neck of the tube 2 with a layer of felt interposed. A prior arrangement using a single semicircular magnet is described. Specification 451,604, [Group XL], is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also an arrangement in which the magnet is sprung around a layer of rubber, leather, cork &c., around the tube and may be glued to the tube after adjustment or adjusted by a knob convenient for operation by an observer viewing the screen of the tube. One knob may rotate the magnet and another rotate a screw to move the magnet axially. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
