Abstract
459,860. Permanent magnets. SZEGHO, C., and BAIRD TELEVISION, Ltd., 58, Victoria Street, Westminster. July 15, 1935. No. 20152. [Class 35] [See also Group XL] A permanent magnet for focusing the beam in a cathoderay tube is in the form of a figure of rotation, and is adapted to fit on the tube, the distance between the polepieces being adjustable. As shown, the magnet 1 has a central aperture in which the tube is arranged, and an annular soft iron polepiece 3 is screwed into a bored out polepiece, so that the gap between the polepieces 3, 4 may be adjusted ; or the polepiece 3 may be screwed into a soft-iron insert on the magnet, and may be a push fit. A toothed driving mechanism for the polepiece 3 may be provided.
