Abstract
770,133. Magnets. COMPAGNIE GENERALE DE TELEGRAPHIE SANS FIL. June 3, 1955 [June 3, 1954], No. 16030/55. Class 35. [Also in Group XL (a)] A tubular permanent magnet for focusing electrons, e.g. in travelling wave tubes, has an internal cross-section which increases from a minimum at its centre to a maximum at its ends. The internal wall of the magnet may have a smooth surface as in Fig. 1 or stepped portions as in Fig. 2. The shape of the magnet flux flow may be modified by providing annular pole elements on the magnet ends as in Fig. 5 (not shown). In order to facilitate the mounting, of the magnet over an electronic tube, the magnet may consist of a number of elements assembled around the tube.
