Abstract

403,671. Cathode-ray tubes. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd., Hayes, Middlesex, and MANIFOLD, M. BOWMAN-, Heathcot, Worplesdon Station, Surrey. June 27, 1932, No. 18164. [Class 39 (i).] In an instrument comprising a cathode ray tube in which the rays are to be exposed to two magnetic fields at right angles the tube is enclosed in a square or annular magnetic yoke 1, having two pairs of inwardly projecting pole pieces 2, 3, 4, 5 provided with windings and so disposed that the current in the windings of one pair 2, 3 does not affect the flux in the other pair 4, 5. The yoke may be made in pieces arranged to be taken apart or hinged to admit the cathode tube and the faces of the pole-pieces may be curved to fit the surface of the tube.
