A magnet system for producing a uniform focusing field for a travelling-wave tube comprises a field straightener positioned within a hollow magnet or solenoid, the field straightener comprising a stack of non-magnetic washers with intervening elements made up of concentric magnetic and non-magnetic rings. The non- magnetic washers and rings may consist of "Bakelite" (Registered Trade Mark) or of aluminium.
