Abstract
859,610. Continuous - - casting machines. MANNESMANN A.G. July 4, 1958 [Aug. 8, 1957], No. 21501/58. Class 83 (1). A continuous-casting chill-mould comprises adjustable-elements A clamping together mouldwall parts 4, 6, 8, 10, by engagement with the parts at opposite central positions, and further elements B having engagement with the walls at positions staggered with respect to the former positions. The clamping-elements have projections 22, 22a and 34, 34a engaging lugs on the tongued-and-grooved wall-parts, and are adjustably clamped together by turn-buckles 16, 16a and 28, 28a. The clamps A, B are connected by lugs 38, Fig. 3, engaging screws in projections 40, 40a so as to allow axial movement only, or may be connected by a rod 56, Fig. 4, passing through slots in each part. The clamping- elements may bear merely on ridges 54, Fig. 5, of the mould. The clamps may have more than two parts, and the mould may comprise more than four wall-parts, and be hexagonal or octagonal. In use, one of the clamps is secured to a casting-table.
