Abstract
774,815. Tube expanders. GALLAY, Ltd. June 24, 1955 [Oct. 25, 1954], No. 30754/54. Class 83 (4). Means for guiding a tube expanding tool 25, so as to retain said tool coaxial with or parallel to the axis of a tube 31, comprises a bearing bush 22 adapted for a mandrel 26, to which a rotary tube expanding tool 25 is attached coaxially, to rotate and slide axially therein, a base member 11 having a bottom planar face 12 which is in a plane normal to the projected axis of said bush, and means 17, 18, 16 for supporting said bush 22 rigidly above the base member 11, the base member 11 being substantially C-shaped and the bush 22 being disposed above the gap between the ends of said base member so as to allow the unrestricted passage of said tool 25 in an axial direction between positions in planes above and below the base member. The bush 22 is rigidly mounted in a platform 16 supported above the gap by pillar 17, 18 extending upwardly from the base 11. A plurality of tubes 31 are expanded into openings in a plate 32.
