Class 38(5) [Also in Group XIII] A switch, particularly for refrigerator control, comprises a U-shaped envelope 1 which contains water, the freezing of which causes deformation of the envelope and separation of the contacts. The latter comprise screws 4 insulatingly carried by blades 2 secured to the ends of the envelope. The freezing temperature may be varied by adding alcohol or glycerine to the water. The envelope may be supported in a metal box by springs so as to be shockproof.
