Abstract

938,340. Thermal switches. M. CLAUSEN, [trading as DANFOSS VED ING. M. CLAUSEN]. March 3, 1961 [March 4, 1960], No. 7841/61. Class 38 (5). [Also in Group XIII] A thermal cut-out for actuation by current passing through a heater coil 20 or by direct radiation through the open side of a casing 10 comprises a right-angled triangular-shaped bimetallic element 1 which is mounted by a screw 14 on a projection 13 at one end of the casing 10 and carries a contact 9 at its apex. The element 1 is cut away as shown to provide a tongue 4 for co-operation with a leaf-spring 15 to produce a snap-action. The contact 9 normally engages a contact 16 carried on the end of angle bracket 18 which also forms a terminal 12 and is adjustable to set the operating temperature by a screw 19 threaded into the bottom of casing 10. A screw 17 forms an adjustable back-stop for the contact 9 and controls the switch differential. A second terminal 21 is connected to one end of heater coil 20, the other end of which is connected to the bimetallic element at 8.
