Abstract

1410214 Thermal switches; cam-operated switches WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORP 20 Nov 1972 [20 Dec 1971] 53488/72 Heading H1N [Also in Division H2] A snap-action thermostat is as described in Specification 1,315,089 but with an additional switch operated in accordance with the mechanism of the snap-action switch. The additional switch comprises a spring blade 38 supported on spacers 39 and carrying at its other end a movable contact 37 co-operating with a fixed contact 35 adjustable to vary the operating temperature. Spring blade 38 is transverse to and operated by deflection of the main snapaction switch spring blade 20, which bears on an insulating button 41 on blade 38 in line with the thermally responsive capsule 27. The additional switch is a creep switch and not snap-action. A circuit diagram is given, Figs. 5, 6, 7 (not shown), which is as that in Specification 1,315,089 but in addition showing the additional switch (43 on the circuit diagram) operating a relay controlling an auxiliary heater, or a neon lamp to indicate that the oven temperature is above a safety level.
