Abstract

751,054. Drying in electric or magnetic fields. BREMER, R. C. June 2, 1954 [June 2, 1953], No. 16371/54. Class 34(2). In a method of drying wood by means of high frequency dielectric heating the wood moves through a heat insulated tunnel on conveyer belt and is subjected to dielectric heating in stages, the high frequency energy supplied in the first stage being such that the temperature of the moisture in the wood is raised quickly to substantially boiling point, the energy in the second stage being just sufficient to bring the heated moisture to evaporation point and the - energy in succeeding stages being progressively reduced as evaporation proceeds and a hot air stream is guided around the wood to remove continually the moisture emerging from the wood.
