Heading F4G Slip of ceramic or other materials is predried and pre-stiffened prior to the production of flat or moulded ceramic articles by passage through an electric or electromagnetic field which heats the entire section of the stream of slip while being poured out from a supply tank. Transmission members for transforming electrical energy into heat energy, e.g. electrodes for resistance or dielectric heating and/or at least one inductive coil are positioned in the stream. The tank and heating elements may be movable or stationary relative to a conveyer band upon which the articles are formed.
