Abstract

750,573. Electrostatic precipitation. AIR PREHEATER CORPORATION. July 2, 1954 [July 21, 1953], No. 19422/54. Class 39 (1). The electrodes of an electrostatic precipitator 10 are cleaned by a stream of hot air entering the precipitator through a duct 20, drawn off through a duct 23, and recirculated in a closed circuit through a cyclone cleaner 24a and a fan 26. Before its reintroduction into the precipitator the cleaned air is brought to a desired high temperature by adding to it at 31 hot air from a heater 14. The heater 14 is an exchanger in the outlet duct of the precipitator. To maintain a constant volume of circulating air, a volume of air corresponding to that added is drawn off at 33. This air is passed to the air inlet 34 of the exchanger 14. A duct 35 is provided to further raise the temperature of the air entering the exchanger.
