Abstract

752,837. Electrostatic precipitation. RESEARCH CORPORATION. April 29, 1954 [May 22, 1953], No. 12448/54. Class 39 (1). Furnace gases before cleaning in an electrostatic precipitator 42 are cooled in heat exchangers 22, 26 and moistened in chamber 38, and to control the temperature and relative humidity of the gas stream leaving the chamber 38, uncooled gases by-passing the heat exchangers are added to the partially cooled stream entering the chamber 38 in controlled amounts. A valve 54 in the by-pass connections 50, 58, 48<SP>1</SP> is controlled by means of the thermostat 52.
