Abstract
743,397. Recuperators for furnaces. AKTIEBOLAGET GOTAVERKEN. Dec. 24, 1953 [Feb. 18, 1953], No. 35937/53. Class 64(1). To avoid condensation of hot gases in an air heater comprising a series of plate or tubular heat exchange sections 5-8 arranged in series in a straight hot gas flue 2 or 3, the cold air is supplied by a conduit 11 to an intermediate heatexchange section 6 first, and then flows first to a heat-exchange section 5 or sections downstream in the hot gas path, and afterwards to sections 7, 8 which are upstream in the hot gas path. In the sections 7, 8 the air flows in countercurrent to the hot gas. A damper 14 may be moved to the position 15 to allow the cold air to flow direct to the section 7 and close the air path through the sections 5, 6. As shown, two sets of heat-exchange sections 5-8 are arranged in parallel.
