Abstract

1346928 Heat exchangers; self cleaning ovens GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 14 June 1971 [15 June 1970] 27673/71 Headings F4S and F4W A heat exchanger construction 10, particularly suitable for reducing the temperature of the hot flue gases leaving a self cleaning oven by a countercurrent flow of ambient air, comprises a corrugated panel 25 suitably bent and held in a compressed state by a tension strap 36 to define two intermeshed series of triangular crosssection passages 40 and 50 for the flow of flue gases and ambient air respectively. The top and bottom ends of the passages are closed by resilient pads 38. Ambient cooling air enters the passages 50 through a manifold 44 and upper openings 42 and leaves through lower openings 52 and collecting manifold 54 from whence it passes as preheated secondary air to the oven burner 16. Hot flue gases enter the lower end of the passages 40 through inlet openings 58 and leave through outlet openings 60 from whence they pass into an inclined exhaust duct 62.
