758,586. Air-heating stoves; furnace recuperators; tubular heat-exchangers. INDUSTRIECOMPANIE KLEINEWEFERS KONSTRUKTIONS-UND HANDELSGES. Sept. 10, 1954 [Sept. 10, 1953], No. 26329/54. Classes 64(1) and 64(3). An air heater comprises an externally longitudinally ribbed tube 1 surrounded by a jacket 7 to form an annular passage, and a channel 11 and vanes 4 all arranged around one end of the jacket so that air to be heated flows through the channel and then into the annular passage past the vanes, which impart a twisting motion to the air. The vanes 4 are located in a gap between flanges 2, 8 at the bottom of the tube and jacket. A channel 11 and set of vanes may be provided at the outlet end. The air may be heated by'hot waste gases flowing through the tube, or by a flame burning in it. Waste heat from the air heater may be used in a heat exchanger to pre-heat the air. A plurality of air heaters may be connected in series or parallel.
